Our Beliefs

Our Community

St. Paul’s United Methodist Church is located in Tottenville on the south shore of Staten Island, NY. We are a church community that loves God and loves people. When you join us for worship, you will feel as like you belong. Everyone is created in the image of God, and we have all fallen and disobeyed. Still, God has loved us and has saved us from sin through Jesus Christ’s death and resurrection. He is in the process of renewing and reshaping our lives in to the people He created us to be. Our church is a community that strengthens one another through love and encouragement as we follow Jesus and his teachings together.

Our Mission and Vision

Our mission and purpose is to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world. This happens most significantly in the local church as people live in community loving and encouraging one another to follow the life and teachings of Jesus Christ.

Jesus said, “As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are
my disciples, if you love one another.”
– John 13: 34-35

Our vision is for people to encounter the love of God through fellow believers, to have a growing relationship with Jesus Christ as Savior that changes lives, and then go a share what they have found with others.

Then, leaving her water jar, the Samaritan woman went back to the town and said to the people,
“Come, see a man who told me everything I ever did. Could this be the Messiah?”
 – John 4: 28-29

Beliefs of the United Methodist Church

As a church, we are part of something bigger than ourselves. St. Paul’s UMC is part of the Church which Jesus began 2000+ years ago, and we are part of the United Methodist Church denomination.
